ADAS – What Is It and How Does It Affect Us?

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) is becoming common place in our vehicles. More than 44% of vehicles manufactured in 2020 will be produced with auto glass that includes ADAS features. These systems rely on cameras, lasers and radar to function properly. It is most common to have these camera’s mounted to your windshield. After the windshield is replaced, it is crucial to calibrate your vehicle’s camera to ensure that your safety features work properly.

Doing a windshield calibration is a fancy term for basically telling your vehicle’s internal computers to readjust all the cameras, sensors and other technology back to manufacturer specifications with the new windshield that has been installed.

For a visual, you could picture moving the needle on a scale so that it is set back at zero and will give you an accurate weight measurement.
